Come and Sing Bruckner Motets
September 20, 2014 @ 10:30 am - 6:00 pm£12.00
Bruckner wrote some thirty motets which form an important part of his output. Surprisingly modern for a 19th Century Austrian composer, they reflect his intense religious faith. With harmonic scrunches, dynamic contrasts and antique modalities, his works are highly powerful. Perhaps it is these features that make the motets challenging and yet easier than is often thought.
With the help of accompanist, Pam Pickford, Simon will carefully guide singers though a selection of some of Bruckner’s most beautiful motets. This Come and Sing Workshop is for singers with some experience, wanting to to test their skills and find out just how stimulating choral singing can be, and for experienced singers looking for an enjoyable day to improve singing technique.
The day will end with a performance at 4.30pm to which you may want to invite friends or family (free entry). Free parking is available in car parks on the opposite side of Water Lane.
