Simon Collins' biography. |
Simon
began his musical education at the age of 7 taking piano lessons and becoming a
boy chorister in two parish churches in Sutton Coldfield. This started his
interest in choral conducting and playing the organ.
Several years on, after study and training alongside a full-time career in
Telecommunications, he is now a Freelance Musician based in Staffordshire and
much in demand as an accompanist (piano and organ), singer and choir director.
Simon has held continuous church posts for over 28 years and, since 2002, as
Director of Music at Melbourne Parish Church, Derbyshire which has a busy music
programme both at home and throughout the country, substituting for Cathedral
choirs each year. He feels both privileged and proud to have directed his Church
choirs and other vocal groups at over 30 English Cathedrals during the past 20 years.
Simon is delighted to have been appointed to the post of Director of Music with the Beaumaris Singers and is looking forward to a long and happy association with this very capable chamber choir as it approaches the quarter century of its founding.
